Abstract : Precision nutrition is a relatively new discipline, and this is reflected in its nomenclature. There is no universally agreed-upon definition for the term’s precision nutrition or personalized nutrition. Precision nutrition is part of precision health. It is said that, you are what you eat. Each year large no of Indians dies from diet related diseases like cardiovascular disease, diabetes and certain forms of Cancers. A Healthy Diet helps children grow and develop properly and reduces their risk of chronic diseases. Adults who eat a healthy diet live longer and have a lower risk of obesity, heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and certain cancers. And even if some body has a chronic disease the diet can help in restoring the condition normal. When we talk about precision medicine it does not simply means personalized diet, it is even more than that. It means more accurate and tailored diet which suits some body. It is flexible and changes according to need and will be different at different age, different metabolic needs and even different seasons. We are different in biological and behavioural system and will need different diet Physical level, stress level, activity level sleep schedule food and medical supplements will determine the choice of diet for a person [1]. Individualized nature of biological effect of caffeine, salt, tobacco and vitamin metabolism is very commonly seen and it such variability exists. It can be attributed to factors such as sex, ethnic origin, genetics, metabolic traits, environment, Microbiome composition, and probably other yet to be discovered factors [2]. Hence, the concept of precision nutrition (used synonymously here with personalized nutrition; both abbreviated PN) on an individual or stratified level has been put forward as an answer to this problem.
