Repository (Self-Archiving) Policy

The Journal of Medical Food and Nutrition (JMN) supports the wide dissemination and long-term preservation of scholarly research. Authors are encouraged to archive their work in institutional repositories, subject-specific repositories, personal websites, research networking platforms (where permitted), or other non-commercial repositories to enhance the accessibility and impact of their research.

Authors retain the copyright to their published work and may deposit different versions of their manuscripts under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) License.

Permitted Versions for Self-Archiving

1. Submitted Version (Preprint)

Authors may deposit the original manuscript submitted to the journal (before peer review) at any time in:

  • Institutional repositories

  • Subject repositories

  • Personal websites

  • Departmental websites

  • Non-commercial preprint servers

  • Research networking platforms that permit preprints

Authors are encouraged to update the repository record after publication by adding the complete citation and DOI of the published article.

2. Accepted Manuscript (Author Accepted Manuscript – AAM)

Authors may archive the peer-reviewed and accepted version of the manuscript immediately after acceptance, provided that:

  • The archived version clearly indicates that it is the accepted manuscript and not the final published version.

  • A statement acknowledging publication in the Journal of Medical Food and Nutrition is included.

  • The complete citation and DOI of the final published article are added once available.

  • The content is not altered in a way that misrepresents the published record.

3. Published Version (Version of Record)

Authors may archive the final published version (Version of Record) immediately after publication without any embargo period in:

  • Institutional repositories

  • Government or funding agency repositories

  • University repositories

  • Subject-specific repositories

  • Personal or institutional websites

  • Non-commercial scholarly repositories

The archived Version of Record must remain identical to the published version.

 
Citation Requirement

When archiving any version of a manuscript, authors must include:

  • Full article title

  • All author names

  • Journal name

  • Year of publication

  • Volume, issue, and page numbers (where applicable)

  • Digital Object Identifier (DOI)

  • A direct link to the published article on the journal website

Smith J, Kumar R, Sharma P. Dietary Polyphenols and Cardiometabolic Health. Journal of Medical Food and Nutrition. 2026;2(1):15–28. https://doi.org/10.xxxx/jmn.xxxx

 
Embargo Policy

The Journal of Medical Food and Nutrition does not impose any embargo period on the self-archiving of submitted, accepted, or published versions of manuscripts.

Licensing

All published articles are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) License, which permits copying, distribution, sharing, adaptation, and reuse of the work for any lawful purpose, provided appropriate credit is given to the original authors and the journal.

Compliance with Funding Agency Requirements

Authors may deposit their manuscripts in repositories to comply with the open-access policies of universities, research institutions, funding agencies, and government organizations, provided that the archived version includes the required citation and DOI linking to the official published Version of Record.

Journal Recommendation

The Journal of Medical Food and Nutrition encourages authors to maximize the visibility, accessibility, and long-term preservation of their research through responsible self-archiving while ensuring that readers can identify and access the authoritative published Version of Record.
