Nutrition In Post Covid Era- A Review

Nutrition is a basic aspect of life and a treatment strategy is complete with an adequate supportive nutrition. Handling a viral pandemic like COVID-19 has been a challenge throughout the world since 2020. In this upcoming era of viral pandemic, basic nutritional assessment of an individual should be symbiotically planned with vaccination strategies. Nutritional therapy may prove as the backbone of a preventive and therapeutic approach to such viral pandemic.

Thus, various types of nutrients that constitute a balanced diet must be studied for their plethora of roles in basic body functioning and immunity build. Broadly, Macronutrients and micronutrients play different basic roles in immune mechanisms and body functioning. Significance of Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids, vitamins, minerals like Zinc, Selenium, Iron, Polyphenols like curcumin need to be adequately addressed and included in basic nutrition. This review highlights the important functional roles of macronutrients and several micronutrients in basic body functioning and buildup of a healthy immune system.
